Problem Statement: Public Sector organisation, were looking to partner with an IT provider that they could trust to move their on-premises server infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. Due to previous budget pressures the existing technology stack built on Hyper-V had reached end of life, the organisation was left with 3 options: do nothing, replace on-premises or move to the cloud. The recently appointed CTO took the decision to move their workloads to the cloud.
Discovery and Foundations: Integy architects worked with the client to gather all of the requirements and prepare a Infrastructure strategy paper. The paper described how this project was not just a lift and shift and to realise true benefits of cloud some services would be moved to SaaS or PaaS offerings. After design reviews the migration phase of the project started, this included making connectivity, and the creation of a robust change management process.
Outcomes: At the end of the project the client had fully transitioned to the cloud, with zero infrastructure on-premises. The transformation not only delivered a fit for purpose supported environment, the client finally secured the backup and disaster recovery protection they required. As part of the move to Azure the client was able to decommission 30+ servers that provided support capability replaced by native Azure operations.
