Get Your House in Order: Safe Foundations for AI and Technology Change
Most businesses already have AI tools and software in use that nobody formally signed off, and that they have little visibility of or control over. Whether you’re getting on top of what’s already there, preparing for an AI rollout or upgrading your systems, what you build on matters. Join us in Taunton on 25th November for a free, practical session on getting your technology, security and policies in order, so your next step forward is a safe one.
- Taunton Innovation Centre
- 11:00am to 1:30pm
Why Getting Your House in Order Comes First
AI tools, new systems, devices and software all promise to save time and win more work. But each one is only as safe as what sits underneath it. If you add new technology on top of weak security, unclear access or no rules about data, a quick win can turn into a real problem.
Getting it right looks like:
- Rolling out AI with confidence: Knowing which tools your team uses, what data goes into them and who can access what, before you scale.
- Upgrading without opening new gaps: Setting up new systems, devices and software securely from day one, not patching them afterwards.
- Protecting the data you hold: Keeping client and business information where it belongs, with the right controls around it.
- Being ready when buyers ask: Having the certifications, policies and answers that larger clients and public sector buyers now expect to see.
This session shows you what needs to be in place, and how to get there without overcomplicating it.
What You’ll Leave With
Get Your House in Order is a practical walk-through of getting your business ready for AI and technology change, delivered by Integy. You’ll leave knowing:
- What “getting your house in order” really means: A plain-English view of the foundations to have in place before rolling out AI or upgrading your technology.
- The core security controls behind safe AI: How the five Cyber Essentials controls (firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection and security update management) support using AI safely.
- What public sector buyers will expect from you: Why government departments, local authorities and other public bodies expect suppliers to have these protocols in place, and increasingly ask about AI and data handling policies too.
- Simple AI and data policies: Who approves tools, what data can and can’t go in, and how to write it down, without the policy lecture.
- The common mistakes to avoid: From staff pasting client data into free tools to devices that never get updated, the small slips that cause the biggest problems.
- Where to go from here: Realistic next steps, including a free readiness conversation if you’d like one.
Cyber Essentials gives you a recognised baseline of security controls, and it’s the natural starting point for using AI safely. If you supply, or want to supply, government departments, local authorities or other public sector organisations, expect to be asked for it, along with clear policies on how you use AI and handle data. If you’re already certified, this year’s assessment changes mean renewal takes a little more than last time, so we’ll cover that too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who should attend?
This session is built for business owners and leaders planning AI rollouts or technology upgrades: managing directors, finance and operations leaders, and the internal IT contacts who keep things running.
It’s especially relevant if you supply, or want to become a supplier to, government departments, local authorities or other public sector organisations. Public sector buyers expect suppliers to show core security controls are in place, with Cyber Essentials often a requirement, and increasingly ask about AI and data handling policies too. We’ll cover what to have ready.
Existing clients are welcome too, and we’d encourage you to bring along a business partner or colleague who’d find it useful.
Is this a sales pitch?
No. This is an education-led session. You’ll get straight answers and practical guidance, with no obligation and nothing to buy. If you decide you’d like help afterwards, that’s your call to make, not ours to push.
Do I need to be using AI already?
Not at all. Whether you’re already using AI, planning a technology upgrade or just want to know your foundations are solid, the session is designed to be useful wherever you are.
What should I bring?
Just yourself and any questions you’ve got. It also helps to bring along any AI tools your team already uses, so you can ask about them directly on the day.
Can I bring a colleague or client?
Yes, and we’d encourage it. These conversations often land better with a second person from your business in the room, whether that’s a colleague, a business partner, or a client who’d benefit.
Is it technical?
No. It’s a session built for business leaders, not exclusively for IT specialists. Everything is explained in plain English, with no jargon and no assumed knowledge. We will cover technology-related subjects, but mostly it’s about good business practices.
