Delivering a Flexible and Secure Digital Workplace for Local Government

Torridge District Council partnered with INTEGY to modernise its end-user computing strategy, creating a secure and flexible platform capable of supporting council staff wherever they work.

Building on an established Microsoft Intune foundation, the council adopted Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 to provide secure access to applications and services while simplifying device management and supporting future workplace transformation.

The challenge

Like many local authorities, Torridge District Council needed to balance security, flexibility and operational efficiency while supporting a diverse workforce.

The council required a modern approach to delivering desktops and applications that could:

  • Support hybrid and remote working.
  • Maintain strong security and governance.
  • Simplify onboarding and device management.
  • Provide a consistent user experience.
  • Extend secure access to contractors, consultants and partner organisations when required.

The Solution

INTEGY worked with Torridge District Council to build upon its Microsoft cloud strategy and deliver a modern workplace platform centred on Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.

Windows 365

A structured Cloud PC deployment model was developed using Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra groups and Windows 365 provisioning policies, providing a repeatable and controlled approach to delivering cloud-hosted desktops.

Unified Endpoint Management

Windows 365 was integrated into the council’s existing Microsoft Intune platform, creating a consistent management experience across physical Windows 11 devices, Azure Virtual Desktop environments, thin clients and Cloud PCs.

Secure External Collaboration

Using Microsoft Entra External Identities, the council gained the ability to securely extend access to contractors, project teams and partner organisations while maintaining governance and control

Trusted Partnership

The success of the programme extended far beyond the initial project objectives.

By working closely with the Torridge District Council team, INTEGY helped deliver a modern, secure and flexible workplace platform that supports both current operational requirements and future transformation initiatives. The successful deployment of Microsoft Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 established a consistent management approach across physical devices, virtual desktops and Cloud PCs, creating a strong foundation for continued innovation.

Today, INTEGY continues to support Torridge District Council, providing ongoing expertise, guidance and technical support across its Microsoft workplace technologies. The relationship has evolved beyond project delivery into a trusted partnership focused on helping the council maximise the value of its Microsoft investment while continuing to modernise services for staff and residents.

"Local authorities need technology that enables flexibility without compromising security or control. Working with Torridge District Council, we helped create a modern workplace platform that simplifies management, strengthens security and gives users a consistent experience wherever they work."
